ABOUT
Matt McKinney MA, LPC
Since 2004 Matt has served in ministry, with a heart to help those who are hurting or in need. He works with individuals, couples and families.

Prior to starting Journey On Counseling, Matt served on staff at a large local church and gained great experience while serving in the single adult ministry, counseling ministry and the volunteer ministry. After this, Matt worked for over six years at an international counseling ministry. Matt helped to build their local, onsite counseling program and was privileged to give insight into policies and procedures surrounding this program.

Leading up to starting his own practice, Matt spent several years working alongside a group of Christian counselors. In this setting, Matt grew his base of clients and it was from there, with God’s guidance and provision, that Matt started Journey On Counseling. Matt is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Texas. He is originally from North Carolina, where he received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. After a few years in sales and marketing, Matt pursued a call to go back to school where he later earned his Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Counseling and Master of Arts in Christian Education from Southwestern Seminary.

Matt is an active member of the American Association of Christian Counselors and a SYMBIS facilitator, a research-based assessment designed to help couples build a strong and fulfilling marriage from the very beginning. In his free time, Matt enjoys spending time with his wife and four kids. He is an active member and serves in his local church. He also enjoys playing golf, basketball and driving cars!
