To be a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Texas, you must do the following:

• Complete a master level degree taking a minimum of 3 years of master level coursework studying psychological theory, current research, and therapeutic interventions for a variety of presenting problems.
  

• During the schooling a counselor will complete a practicum, which in the state of Texas is a minimum of 300 hours heavily supervised by a counseling supervisor and professors. A practicum is when a counseling student begins to work directly with actual clients.
  

• Post-graduation a counselor will complete state board examinations.
  

• Once boards are passed the counselor will complete a 3,000 hour heavily supervised internship by a licensed counseling supervisor.
  

• Once they have completed this process they receive an LPC license.

Matt currently is accepting Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO and United Healthcare. Please check with your insurance company to verify what your benefits will cover prior to your first session.

The cost for each 50-minute session is $150 for an individual, unless you are in network with Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO or United Healthcare. For couples therapy sessions, cost is $175 for a 60 minute session (couples therapy is not covered by insurance carriers as it is not seen as a medical necessity). If you are out of network, I can provide the proper documentation for insurance allowed reimbursement. While there is no way to guarantee reimbursement, many clients have been successfully reimbursed by their insurance company. Please do not let finances be a stumbling block for the help that you need. I will be glad to work with you to come up with a payment plan, if needed. Remember you are making a great investment in you, your relationships and your future.
